Playmakers on Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas

So, Royal Caribbean has their own version of Applebee’s and it is called Playmakers and we decided to have lunch there one afternoon. It is located in the Boardwalk district of Wonder of the Seas right next to the carousel.

Even though it was more of a beer vibe, I had a glass of Pineapple Sangria to start my meal and it was so refreshing and had a hint of sweetness.

For a starter, we got Chicken Tenders which came with fries. The dish was only $4 and can be a full meal if you aren’t too hungry. That’s a pretty sweet bargain if you do not have a dining package.

We also ordered the Crispy Onion Ring Tower and it was very tall. The rings weren’t that smooth but they were pretty crispy, so they were true to their name. This dish was $6.

Next up were the Pile On Nachos and they were peppered with peppers. My uncle really likes spicy food, so I left the jalapenos for him to eat. There was also a ton of cilantro on there, so I really just had a chip and tried my best to steer clear of the rest. These were also $6.

On another night, we popped in for dessert because I had heard about the Touchdown Sundae with the souvenir helmet. This sundae was $12 and four of us got to work with our spoons. There were five scoops of ice cream, caramel, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, chocolate sticks, cookie sticks, and sprinkles. We enjoyed it and had a mini helmet to take with us at the end.

If you need a quick and inexpensive bite or drink, Playmakers is a good spot to grab a table inside or out. You won’t be getting anything gourmet, but you will fill your belly.

Birthday Celebration at Geyser Point

Upon leaving Magic Kingdom after celebrating my daughter’s birthday and allowing her to dictate the day, we decided to enjoy dinner at Geyser Point over at the Wilderness Lodge. They don’t take reservations, so my parents arrived early to get on the waiting list.

To start our meal, I chose the Blueberry Lemonade. It was very sweet, so I received a water chaser and decided one was plenty.

One of our appetizers was the Handcrafted Cheese and Charcuterie. I’m not a fan of goat cheese but some of the items were tasty like the mustard and pâté. I tried each item, and I did like the variety that was on display. I was surprised that the little pickle was sour and not sweet like most gherkins are. I prefer sour pickles with a great bite.

The second of our appetizers was the Cheesy Barbecue Brisket. The house-made chips were crunchy and the dip was smoky and sweet. My parents loved this item and I understood exactly why. I think this might also be good as a sandwich on toasted bread.

For my meal, I chose the Handcrafted Crab Cake. The crab cake was good and had a crunchy top and a smooth, soft center. It sat atop a tasty salad of onion and cabbage, but I was still hungry after finishing it. I had the turkey sandwich the last time I dined there, so I figured I’d try something new. I think this crab cake would be better as an appetizer instead of an entree because it’s not filling, but it is good.

To celebrate with my daughter, the server brought over the Campfire Mousse. It is a chocolate lovers dream. The mousse is rich and creamy and the cookie crumbs are great to add an additional texture. My kids attacked this dessert and I was lucky to grab one forkful.

We had a great meal at Geyser Point and will keep coming back. I think I’ll try the Bison Burger or the Teriyaki Chicken Wings next time. And, I’ll need that mousse for myself.
