We visited Disneyland in June 2025 while stadium-hopping our way through the state of California. Many people say that Disneyland has better food than Walt Disney World, but I am still deciding.
Here’s where we ate:
Din Tai Fung

At Din Tai Fung in Downtown Disney, the Xiao Long Bao, Green Beans with Garlic, and Chicken Dumplings were all spectacular. We tried the Pork Xiao Long Bao and the Chicken Xiao Long Bao, and preferred the Pork. There’s a little card on the table that gives you the instructions on how to eat them without burning your mouth. I usually don’t eat green beans, but these were crunchy and full of flavor. The Chicken Dumplings were mild and soft, so the kids both loved them. We tried other menu items, so you can read about them in the Din Tai Fung post.
Black Tap

This Brooklyn-born restaurant has a menu full of burgers and shakes. Black Tap, in Downtown Disney, is pricey, so you might feel like the burgers are not worth the price, but they do have good flavor. On the other hand, the shakes are on another planet. They combine cake, milkshake, toppings, candy, and who knows what else to send you on a Matterhorn-sized sugar high.
Gibson Girl’s Ice Cream Parlor

On Main Street in Disneyland, there’s an ice cream shop that has sundaes, cones, and cups. Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor has a great flavor list, including my favorite, Rocky Road. We were able to share sundaes, and each one of us found a favorite.
Great Maple Modern American Eatery

While staying at Pixar Place Hotel, we walked downstairs to the lobby to eat brunch at Great Maple Modern American Eatery. They offered everything from warm donuts to pancakes to salads, and I enjoyed my Eggs Benedict…and then I walked out into the lobby and met Bing Bong.
Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill & Patio

We headed out to Downtown Disney to eat lunch at Jazz Kitchen, and we weren’t sure what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised because we enjoyed everything. From the Crispy Calamari to the Shrimp and Grits to the Shrimp and Dumplings, we were full and content.
Naples Ristorante e Bar

With the pricing where it is at Naples, we each had a plate of pasta and a beverage. My husband and I shared dishes so we could taste both dishes we were interested in. The Shrimp Penne Alla Vodka was spicy, and the Eggplant Alla Parmigiana was very good and took up the whole plate.
Tiana’s Palace

For what we ordered, there was a great deal for dinner at Tiana’s Palace in Disneyland. For $17.99, I received a Shrimp Po’Boy with lettuce, tomato, and remoulade, and red beans and rice and pickles on the side. I also washed it all down with a Tiana Punch, which was refreshing and tart with fresh raspberries.
Extras
- Passion Fruit-Orange-Guava Punch from Lucky Fortune Cookery in California Adventure – If you like POG juice, you will love this.
- 70th Anniversary Strawberry Shortcake Macaron from Jolly Holiday Bakery in Disneyland – It is crunchy on the top and soft at the bottom with fresh strawberries in the middle. So good!
- Peanut Butter Square from Disney Wonderful World of Sweets in Downtown Disney – If you think peanut butter and chocolate is the best marriage (no offense, TK), then you need to eat this. It is soft and sweet, but with that peanut butter saltiness. Yum x 100.
