Longhorn Steakhouse hits the spot

I know what you’re going to say. “An inexpensive chain steakhouse? Are you for real?” The answer is yes and the steakhouse is Longhorn Steakhouse. Yes, it has the leather seats and yes, it has all of the a la carte options you want, but it’s not a mortgage payment and is still tasty. Also, if you are watching your calorie intake, it is great for that.

I started my meal with a cup of Shrimp and Lobster Chowder. Mine was chunky but TK’s was more liquid than shellfish. I enjoyed it.

For my entree, I ordered the Renegade Sirloin because the calorie count was doable (220 calories) and it wasn’t an enormous portion. I also ordered Broccoli as my side (90 calories) and it was flavored nicely.

TK ordered the New York Strip and Mashed Potatoes on the side. He wanted to keep his calorie count low, but he loves mashed potatoes and could not pass them up. However, my favorite side for steak is Brussels sprouts and TK’s is asparagus, but you usually have to pay more for those.

After our meal, we did not feel bloated or gross. It was the perfect-sized dinner and the steak and sides were flavored appropriately. We decided we will become regulars.
