Ohana = Family, in every way

Breakfast

Family Style Breakfast

On our third day in Walt Disney World, we started at Ohana in the Polynesian Resort. The Polynesian is one of my favorite resorts. Fortunately, I got to stay there in 1989, but I was only 9, so I don’t remember most of it.

At Ohana, they seat you at a table with your entire party and the food is served family style. So, they placed the bread on the table and we started to nibble. The juice that they serve is called Stitch Juice and it is a mix of orange, passion fruit and guava, and it is really tasty and different. We thought it was very refreshing. The bread they serve is Coconut Pineapple Bread and it is lovely and light. While we waited for our breakfast, the parade had started around the restaurant. Mickey, Stitch, Chip and Dale made their way around the tables with kids lined up behind them shaking maracas. It is really cute.

When the breakfast arrived, it was scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage, bacon, biscuits and eventually, Mickey Waffles. The potatoes were very good because they were mixed with sautéed onions. The biscuits were dry, but the sausage and bacon were just right. The Mickey Waffles always please the crowd and they have a crusty outside, but the inside is nice and soft. They are perfect, with a great Disney touch.

Since the food is family-style, you can have as much as you want. When anything was running low on the table, the waiter and waitress came right over with a replacement. They were on it! One of the kitchens in the restaurant is considered an open kitchen, so you can see the chefs cook and all of the action in the center of the restaurant.

If your kids love characters and you like a comfortable breakfast with tasty extras, Ohana is the perfect place to start a Disney day.
